Witnesses report explosions, troop deployments across multiple Iranian cities
Multiple explosions and increased security deployments were reported in several cities across Iran on March 12, according to eyewitnesses who shared accounts with Iran International.
In the central city of Karaj, residents in the Azimiyeh district reported hearing several loud blasts around 2 a.m. local time, while in Kashan, multiple explosions were reported around 4 a.m. Witnesses also reported an attack around 1 a.m. in the southern port city of Bandar Sirik.
In the southwestern city of Ahvaz, five explosions were heard around 7 a.m. in a northern district near the area of the 92nd Armored Division, followed by three additional blasts further south after fighter jets were heard overhead. A missile strike targeting air defenses was also reported on the Persian Gulf island of Qeshm.
Eyewitnesses indicated that security forces were deployed at public facilities across the country. In Lahijan, security equipment was seen at Takhti Stadium, while in Shiraz, the Imam Reza school was reportedly being used as a base by Basij forces.
In the western city of Malayer, IRGC personnel were observed moving from their base at Sepah Square to Ebtekar Technical School on Parastar Boulevard, with additional security forces gathering at locations along Saadi Street.
