Workers trapped in mine after collapse in Türkiye's Elazığ
A mine collapse has occurred in Türkiye’s Elazığ province, specifically in the Alacakaya district, leaving workers trapped beneath the debris.
According to Turkish media outlets, rescue operations are currently underway. Teams from the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the National Medical Rescue Team of the Health Ministry, and local police forces have been dispatched to the site to assist in locating and rescuing those still underground.
Authorities have not yet specified how many individuals are trapped.
This is not the first such incident at the mine. A similar collapse took place on January 23 of this year, when a rockfall trapped workers inside. In that incident, two miners were pulled from the rubble, with one sustaining a leg fracture and being taken to the hospital.
