WUF13 in Baku highlights Azerbaijan’s urban planning expertise — Turkish expert
Hosting the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku showcases Azerbaijan’s urban planning experience on a global scale, Turkish expert Ilyas Demirci, Chairman of the Union of Engineers and Architects of the Turkic World (TDMMB), told local media.
Demirci noted that bringing the forum to Baku reflects the country’s consistent urban development policies in recent years.
He emphasised that WUF13, one of the most prestigious international urbanism events under the UN’s auspices, will enhance the city’s global recognition, facilitate direct contacts with international investors, and open opportunities for reconstruction and infrastructure projects.
The expert added that initiatives such as the reconstruction of Karabakh, the strategic importance of Nakhchivan, the modernisation of Baku, and the development of transport corridors give Azerbaijan’s urban policy not only national but also geostrategic significance.
