Yerevan court orders journalist to pay Speaker $300

Yerevan's General Jurisdiction Court has upheld Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan's defamation claim against journalist Ani Gevorgyan.

Tsovinar Khachatryan, the press secretary for Simonyan, made the statement, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

The decision of the court is final and not appealable. The court ordered Gevorgyan to refute her claim that Simonyan ordered a crime against her and her young child and to pay 150,000 drams ($300) in compensation.
