Yerevan hosts European leaders for strategic talks on Ukraine, regional security
The President of the European Council has reaffirmed the European Union’s continued support for Ukraine following a high-level meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and Keir Starmer on the sidelines of the European Political Community Summit in Yerevan.
In a statement released on X after the talks, the European Council president António Costa said the meeting provided an opportunity “to take stock of our different work strands on Ukraine.”
“We will continue to support all efforts towards a just and sustainable peace, including by stepping up our pressure on Russia,” the statement said.
The European Council president also reiterated the bloc’s long-term commitment to Kyiv’s European aspirations.
“Ukraine’s future is in the EU. We will keep working together towards this goal,” the statement added.
