Yerevan hosts US special force troops that intend to act against Russia, Iran

05 December 2022 20:21

On October 29, 2022, a US Navy's Boeing C-40 Clipper took off from Spanish Rota Airport and landed the next day at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport. The mysterious aircraft remained there for about a day and departed on October 31 at 15:53, after which it made a short landing at the Greek airport of Chania before flying to the Sigonella airbase in Italy.

As Caliber.Az reports citing the Russian "Siloviki" TV channel, the aircraft was carrying small arms, hand grenades, landmines, special equipment including surveillance systems, as well as personnel of the US Special Forces, allegedly for the carrying out of exercises for the protection of the US Embassy in Yerevan.

It is noteworthy though, that the Armenian and American sides made up a joint fairy tale, according to which the US personnel apparently had some problems with their documents which is why the unboarding of the plane did not occur and after a long and unsuccessful journey through various paperwork, the armed special forces plane continued on the above-mentioned flight via Greece to Italy.

However, the unboarding of the plane was in fact carried out, and a group of American special forces is currently quartered in Armenia. Its task is to conduct reconnaissance and sabotage activities on the Armenian-Iranian border, with the aim of destabilizing the situation along the perimeter of the Iranian borders at a later point, as well as to create a potential hotbed of tension between Russia and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The most tested and loyal personnel of the Armenian authorities will provide operational support to their American partners on the ground. The agreement was reached during the visit of the Armenian Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, to Washington on September 26, with preliminary work on the topic carried out even earlier during the visit of the Head of the CIA, William Burns, to Armenia on July 15.
