Yerevan plunges into darkness as fire hits power substation
A fire at an electrical substation in Yerevan has left entire neighbourhoods of the city without power.
The “Electric Networks of Armenia” company said that the outage affected the Erebuni administrative district, the Sari Tah neighbourhood, Khorenatsi and Tigran Mets streets, as well as part of Charents Street, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The company noted that emergency repair teams are working to eliminate the consequences and restore electricity, urging residents to understand the temporary inconvenience.
According to the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire was reported on December 28 at 00:12. It was contained by 00:53 and fully extinguished by 01:20. The fire damaged substation property over an area of approximately 200 square meters.
