Zelenskyy says Ukraine will match Moscow's actions if ceasefire respected
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has put forward new conditions for a ceasefire in the country, despite agreeing with the initiative of his American counterpart Donald Trump on a 30-day ceasefire.
The Ukrainian leader made the relevant statement during a press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
"I really hope that there will be proper control... The main entity of this control should be the United States. If we reach such an agreement, there will be a list of objects: civilian facilities, energy infrastructure, and other infrastructure objects," said the Ukrainian president.
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine would prepare a list of objects to be provided to partners. According to him, if Moscow abides by the agreement, Kyiv will reciprocate in kind.
On March 18, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a significant phone conversation aimed at addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The call lasted approximately 90 minutes and focused on efforts to establish a ceasefire.
During the discussion, President Putin agreed to halt attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure for a 30-day period. However, he did not commit to a comprehensive ceasefire and insisted that Ukraine cease receiving foreign military aid, a condition that complicates potential peace negotiations.
