Zelenskyy: Russian drone blitz hits UN humanitarian vehicle in Kherson VIDEO
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said Russian forces carried out overnight strikes across Ukraine, including FPV drone attacks on a vehicle belonging to a United Nations humanitarian mission, as he vowed a “just response” to the escalation.
Writing on his Telegram channel, Zelenskyy said at least five people were killed in Kyiv during the latest wave of strikes, with around 40 others injured in the capital and seven more wounded in the Kyiv region.
In Kharkiv, 28 people were reported injured, while further casualties were recorded in the Odesa region. Nationwide, he said, around 180 sites had been damaged, including more than 50 residential buildings.
Search-and-rescue operations continued in Kyiv’s Darniytskyi district, where people were believed to be trapped under rubble. More than 10 individuals were reported missing, according to the president.
Emergency and police services were deployed across affected regions, with over 750 State Emergency Service personnel and a similar number of police officers involved in response efforts.
Zelenskyy also said that during a humanitarian mission in Kherson, Russian forces struck a UN vehicle twice using FPV drones. He said the vehicle belonged to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and carried nine staff, including its head in Ukraine. No one was injured, and the team was evacuated safely.
“More than 93% of missiles and drones were intercepted,” Zelenskyy said, adding that Ukraine’s air defences needed further strengthening, particularly against ballistic threats. He called for increased international pressure on Moscow and expanded sanctions, saying Russia must face “full accountability” for its actions.
