Axios: Zelenskyy, Trump discuss possible Tomahawk deliveries to Ukraine UPDATED
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss bilateral cooperation, the situation in the Middle East, and the ongoing Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
According to Axios, citing informed sources, one of the key topics raised during the 30-minute call was the potential U.S. supply of Tomahawk long-range missiles to Ukraine. The discussion reportedly focused on strengthening Ukraine’s ability to strike distant targets, which Kyiv believes could pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin to engage in meaningful peace talks. However, the sources did not confirm whether any final decision had been made regarding the missile transfer.
Zelenskyy earlier provided details of the conversation on his official X account, describing the exchange as “very positive and productive.” He congratulated President Trump on his “outstanding achievement” in securing a Middle East peace deal and expressed hope that other conflicts, including the war in Ukraine, could also be brought to an end.
“I informed President Trump about Russia’s attacks on our energy system—and I appreciate his willingness to support us,” Zelenskyy wrote. “We discussed opportunities to bolster our air defence, as well as concrete agreements that we are working on to ensure this. There are good options and solid ideas on how to truly strengthen us.”
