Slovak PM says dialogue with Zelenskyy continues despite differences
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has said he held an “open discussion” with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stressing that the two leaders exchanged views on both shared positions and areas of disagreement.
"President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and I had an open discussion about issues on which we share common views, as well as those on which our perspectives differ. Slovakia will continue to defend and promote its national interests, while at the same time I believe it is right to maintain a factual, constructive, and respectful dialogue with all our partners," Fico said on X, Caliber.Az reports.
Fico added that preparations are underway for a joint meeting between the Slovak and Ukrainian governments. He also noted that the two leaders had previously met in Yerevan and welcomed the continuation of dialogue.

“We met recently in Yerevan, and I am very pleased that the dialogue between us is continuing, even though we do not share the same views on all issues. However, it would be a shame if someone as committed to dialogue as I am were not to engage in dialogue with the President of Ukraine,” he said.
The Slovak prime minister emphasised that Bratislava would continue to defend its national interests while maintaining what he described as constructive engagement with international partners.
He described the ongoing dialogue as “taking on a rather interesting and positive character.”
