Azerbaijan unveils number of mine victims since First Karabakh War
KARABAKH 17 November 2022 - 19:27
Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency’s department head Ramil Azizov has said that 3,079 people had been affected by mine explosions from 1992 to 2020 in Azerbaijan.
Azizov made the remarks at an international conference on the topic "Combating Mine Threat: Challenges and Opportunities", APA reports.
Since November 2020, after the end of the 44-day Second Karabakh War, some 268 people were blown up by Armenian-planted landmines, he stressed.
According to the department head, some 550 of those mine victims were women and children.
