Azerbaijani, Ukrainian ombudsmen discuss cooperation, effective rights protection
Azerbaijani and Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioners Sabina Aliyeva and Dmytro Lubinets have met in Ankara to discuss cooperation and the effective protection of human rights.
The meeting discussed cooperation between the ombudsmen of the two countries, prospects for the development of relations in the field of effective protection and ensuring human rights in the current situation, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan's ombudsman office.
Aliyeva asked the Ukrainian ombudsman to pay attention to the issue of protecting the rights of Azerbaijani citizens Misir Gasimli and Subhan Guliyev, who are currently under arrest in Ukraine.
The parties stressed the need for further development of cooperation in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms.
The Ukrainian ombudsman thanked Azerbaijan for the humanitarian assistance provided to Ukrainians and noted the important role of Azerbaijani Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva in this matter.
