Bilateral relations, regional stability take centre stage in Azerbaijan-Latvia talks
The fourth session of the strategic dialogue between Azerbaijan and Latvia convened on September 9, marking a continued commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and addressing regional and global issues of mutual concern.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fariz Rzayev, while the Latvian delegation was headed by Ivars Lasis, Under-Secretary of State, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.
The discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of political, economic, and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. Both parties underscored the significance of expanding partnership within international organizations, highlighting the importance of multilateral engagement.
The Azerbaijani side briefed its Latvian counterparts on the evolving regional situation in the post-conflict period, detailing Azerbaijan’s ongoing efforts to address the mine threat and the extensive restoration activities underway in territories recently liberated from occupation. Furthermore, the dialogue covered the progress in the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, including outcomes from the Washington meeting held on August 8 and the recent decision by the OSCE Ministerial Council on September 1 to abolish the Minsk Group process.
In addition to bilateral matters, the meeting featured an exchange of views on broader global and regional developments, reinforcing the shared commitment of Azerbaijan and Latvia to collaborative diplomacy and sustained dialogue.
