Azerbaijani, Polish FMs discuss Middle East security in phone call
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski held a telephone conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, during which the two sides discussed security concerns related to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, including Iran’s drone attacks against Azerbaijan, as well as prospects for bilateral cooperation.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, both ministers stressed that the continuing war in the Middle East poses serious threats to regional and global security. They underlined the importance of de-escalation and the need to resume negotiations to stabilise the situation, Caliber.Az reports.
Sikorski strongly condemned Iran’s drone strikes targeting Azerbaijan and expressed solidarity with the country. He also thanked Azerbaijan for its assistance in evacuating Polish diplomats and citizens from Iran.
The conversation also addressed bilateral relations, with both sides noting that ties between Azerbaijan and Poland in political, economic, energy, and humanitarian spheres hold significant potential for further development. The ministers emphasised the importance of mutual visits and intensifying political dialogue.
The call concluded with an exchange of views on other regional and international security issues.
