Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan focus on inter-parliamentary ties, development projects
Marlen Mamataliev, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Kyrgyzstan’s parliament, met with Latif Gandilov, Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The officials exchanged views on political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian collaboration, as well as prospects for deepening parliamentary interaction between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
Mamataliev emphasized that advancing cooperation with Azerbaijan is a key priority for Kyrgyzstan’s foreign policy. He highlighted that the strong ties between the leadership of both nations support political dialogue and the active development of bilateral relations.
“In particular, bilateral visits are regularly organized, during which important agreements are signed. Now, we need to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation to ensure the successful implementation of these agreements,” Mamataliev said.
The Speaker also expressed the Jogorku Kenesh’s commitment to closer collaboration with the Parliament of Azerbaijan, noting the importance of enhancing contacts through specialized committees and parliamentary friendship groups.
Ambassador Gandilov thanked Mamataliev for the meeting and conveyed greetings from Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament. He also highlighted ongoing joint projects, including investment initiatives through the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan Development Fund, whose authorized capital has been increased to $100 million to finance major projects on an interest-free basis.
The meeting further covered cooperation in trade, economic development, and cultural-humanitarian fields, as well as inter-parliamentary collaboration within international organizations, signaling a commitment to deepen the longstanding partnership between the two nations.
