Azerbaijan, Djibouti discuss mutual support in international platforms
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Djibouti’s Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Ali Hassan, to discuss prospects for bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The talks highlighted opportunities to strengthen ties in trade, economic, humanitarian, educational, and other spheres. Both sides underlined the importance of mutual support within regional and international organisations, including the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement, Caliber.Az reports per the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Special emphasis was placed on the upcoming OIC summit to be hosted by Azerbaijan in 2026, with Baku’s chairmanship seen as opening new avenues for partnership.
The meeting also touched on the significance of agreements reached in Washington in August, with Azerbaijan reaffirming its role as initiator of the peace process and its commitment to advancing the peace agenda.
During the same day, political consultations were held between the foreign ministries of the two countries. The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiev, while the Djiboutian side was headed by Mohamed Ali Hassan.
