Demirchilou made the remarks during a meeting with Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Work with Religious Organisations, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
During the meeting, the sides engaged in discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the spheres of religion and culture. Ambassador Demirchilou noted that Iran and Azerbaijan share a long-standing historical and cultural affinity, and emphasised the mutual potential for deepening ties in these areas.
Chairman Mammadov, in turn, provided a detailed overview of Azerbaijan’s religious landscape, highlighting the country’s longstanding traditions of religious tolerance and multiculturalism. He underscored that Azerbaijan remains committed to ensuring the free and safe functioning of all religious communities, regardless of denomination or belief.
Ramin Mammadov stated that the state’s religious policy was reflected in concrete practical measures, noting that the government continued to support the preservation and development of the country’s religious heritage. He highlighted the ongoing construction and restoration of religious monuments and places of worship, as well as the financial assistance provided to local faith communities.
