Zelenskyy thanks Azerbaijan for support during meeting with FM Bayramov UPDATED

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has thanked Azerbaijan for its support during a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has said.

It noted that the two sides discussed the current state and future prospects of the strategic partnership between their countries, Caliber.Az reports.

The talks focused on political dialogue, cooperation in the energy, transport and humanitarian sectors, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The sides underscored the importance of further strengthening Azerbaijan-Ukraine relations based on friendship and mutual respect. They also noted that next year will mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The meeting highlighted the significance of President Zelenskyy's visit to Azerbaijan in April this year, with both sides noting that the agreements reached during the trip had elevated bilateral relations to a new stage.

The discussions also covered regional security, the situation in Ukraine and other key issues on the international agenda.

The Azerbaijani side reaffirmed its consistent support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.

President Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani government for their humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.

The two sides also reaffirmed their intention to further strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation across a wide range of fields.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its continued support of Ukraine during a meeting in Kyiv with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, where the sides discussed defence cooperation, economic ties, and regional security.

Zelenskyy shared details of the meeting on his official Telegram channel, noting that Bayramov's visit marked the Azerbaijani foreign minister's first trip to Ukraine since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

"I received Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. This is the minister's first visit to Ukraine since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. He began his visit in Irpin, where he visited a school, a hospital, and a rehabilitation centre that receives assistance from Azerbaijan. We are deeply grateful that, during these difficult days for our country and our people, you found the opportunity to come and support us. Thank you for your solidarity with the Ukrainian people," Zelenskyy wrote.

The Ukrainian president said he briefed Bayramov on Russia's ongoing missile and drone attacks, the security situation in the Black Sea, and Moscow's blockade of grain export corridors.

The sides also discussed prospects for expanding high-level diplomatic engagement, strengthening defence cooperation, and enhancing economic collaboration, with particular focus on the energy, oil and gas, and agricultural sectors.

Expressing appreciation for Baku's assistance, Zelenskyy highlighted Azerbaijan's continued humanitarian and energy support for Ukraine.

"I am grateful to Azerbaijan for its support of Ukraine, its energy and humanitarian assistance, and its constructive dialogue," the Ukrainian president emphasized.
