US diplomat: Baku-Yerevan peace efforts delivered “bold and concrete steps” VIDEO

Azerbaijan and Armenia have demonstrated a strong commitment to achieving lasting peace and taken concrete steps toward that goal over the year since the historic Washington summit, U.S. Chargé d'Affaires in Azerbaijan Amy Carlon said.

In a video address published by the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan marking the anniversary of the August 8, 2025, summit, Carlon recalled that U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the White House, Caliber.Az reports.

She reminded that the leaders initialled an agreement during the summit that laid the foundation for lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia after more than three decades of conflict.

"Since August 8, the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia have demonstrated an unwavering committment to honor the spirit of the White House summit and have taken bold and concrete steps toward a durable peace," Carlon said.

She noted that regular exchanges between civil society representatives from the two countries had begun over the past year, while the first signs of cross-border trade had emerged, including Armenia’s regular purchases of Azerbaijani fuel.

Carlon also highlighted the TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) project, describing it as one of the key elements of the August 8 agreement.

"This route will provide Azerbaijan unimpeded access to Nakhchivan and boost integration and East-West connectivity, providing reciprocal economic benefits and prosperity of Azerbaijan and a greater region," she said.

According to Carlon, the TRIPP project has made significant progress over the past year, with the process expected to accelerate in the coming year.

Addressing U.S.-Azerbaijan relations, Carlon said Trump and Aliyev also signed a memorandum of understanding on August 8 aimed at elevating bilateral ties to a new level.

The memorandum subsequently led to the signing of the U.S.-Azerbaijan Charter on Strategic Partnership, she said.

Carlon emphasised that following the signing of the Charter, Washington and Baku began implementing it, while high-level visits by government officials and private-sector representatives have increased significantly in recent months.

She also highlighted the signing in June of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in critical minerals, the first U.S.-Azerbaijan Economic Dialogue and commercial and investment agreements worth billions of dollars concluded by American companies.

"And we are just getting started. There is so much more to come. President Trump has made clear the US commitment to peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus region, and the progress we have made over the past year shows what is possible if we work together. I am confident that together our countries will achieve many more milestones in the years to come," the diplomat said.
