Türkiye unveils M60 battle tanks modernisation project

The Turkish company Roketsan unveiled a project to modernise M60 tanks.
The project aims to modernise the M60A3 main battle tanks in service with the Turkish Armed Forces, Caliber.Az reports citing SavunmaSanayiST.com.

As part of the project, Roketsan has developed a new fighting compartment and turret for the M60A3 tanks.
The new turret, which is much more technologically advanced than the current 14.5-tonne M60A3 tank turrets, weighs 13 tonnes. The 105mm MZK gun will also be improved, with additional armour modules (ERA), laser warning receivers, a remotely controlled weapon system, and a charging machine.
According to information, the Turkish Armed Forces have more than 600 M60A3 main battle tanks in service. The TİYK-M60A3 program aims to modernise these tanks and give them capabilities similar to the M60TM.
