German government to approve supply of over 180 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine

The German government will permit Rheinmetall arms manufacturers company and Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH (FFG) vehicle company to supply 187 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine.

Many of the equipment should be repaired and it is unclear whether it is possible to use the entire batch on the battlefield, or whether some tanks will be used as spare parts, according to Business Insider.

Rheinmetall will transfer 88 tanks and 99 more tanks will be obtained from FFG.

Ukraine can receive the first tanks no earlier than in the middle of this year. The exact number of tanks is still unknown.
