Russian president restricts access to country’s energy sector data

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree restricting access to certain information concerning the country’s fuel and energy sector.

The document introduces a special procedure for the use of such information, Caliber.Az reports.

The decree states that the measures were adopted “due to the need for urgent action in response to unfriendly steps by the United States and states and organisations that have joined them, which run counter to international law”.

The restrictions cover data on the export of goods by legal entities, including the names and volumes of supplies, prices, information on sellers and buyers, carriers, insurers, routes and terminals, as well as details contained in transport documents.

Open access will also be restricted to information on processing and production at Russian oil refineries, aggregated customs statistics and the contents of documents required for customs procedures.

A separate section concerns exchange-traded fuel transactions, including planned sales volumes and concluded contracts for the sale of petrol with an octane rating of 92 or higher and diesel fuel by oil companies and their subsidiaries.
