Azerbaijan’s industrial output drops modestly
Industrial enterprises and private entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan produced industrial goods worth 12.7 billion manats ($7.47 billion) from January through February this year, or 2.8 per cent less than in the same period last year.
Over the past year, production in the oil and gas sector has fallen by 3.7 per cent, while production in the non-oil and gas sector has grown by 6.8 per cent, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
Around 73.2 per cent of industrial output is produced in the mining sector, 21.5 per cent in the manufacturing sector, 4.8 per cent in the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, and 0.5 per cent in the water, waste treatment and recycling sectors.
In the mining sector, the production of marketable oil decreased by 6.4 per cent, while the production of marketable gas increased by 0.9 per cent.
In the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, production volumes increased by 8.3 per cent and in the water, waste treatment and recycling sectors by 15.9 per cent.
