Azerbaijan expands export map: Over 70 countries now carry its homegrown goods
Azerbaijan's industrial exports under the Made in Azerbaijan label have entered new markets, with South Africa, Yemen, and Argentina becoming the latest destinations for locally produced goods, according to the Agency for the Development of Economic Zones under the Ministry of Economy.
The agency confirmed the expansion in response to a query from domestic media, highlighting that enterprises within Azerbaijan’s industrial zones are not only meeting domestic demand but are also making increasing inroads into global markets, per Caliber.Az.
“These industrial zones are designed primarily to satisfy the needs of the local market, but they also play a strategic role in reducing import dependence, boosting exports, and supporting the international reach of Azerbaijani industrial products under the Made in Azerbaijan brand,” the statement noted. “At present, products made under this label can be found in more than 70 countries around the world.”
The agency also stressed the economic impact of these developments, pointing out that industrial zones help retain foreign currency within Azerbaijan while also attracting international revenue: “One of our core objectives is to transform Azerbaijan from a country that imports goods into a country that exports them. And we are already seeing significant success in that area.”
More than half of the enterprises located in industrial parks are currently exporting to foreign markets. Over 50 different product types are now shipped abroad, and the range is expected to grow significantly in the near future.
Among the upcoming developments, the agency highlighted the launch of new facilities within industrial zones, including factories tied to the automotive sector. One major example is a new manufacturing plant for the IVECO brand, which will contribute to diversifying and expanding Azerbaijan’s export portfolio even further.
