Azerbaijan, Algeria discuss 2027 joint commission at video conference PHOTO

Baku is expected to host the first meeting of the Azerbaijan-Algeria Joint Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation in the first half of 2027, Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry said.

The preparations for the meeting were discussed during a video conference between Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Algeria’s Minister of State and Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab.

The sides welcomed the development of friendly relations between the two countries, saying political dialogue between their heads of state provided a strong basis for expanding bilateral cooperation.

They also highlighted cooperation in the energy sector, including within the OPEC+ framework, as well as developing ties between Azerbaijan’s SOCAR and Algeria’s Sonatrach.

The ministers discussed the implementation of a memorandum of understanding signed in the energy sector and the work of a group established under it.

They also considered expanding cooperation beyond hydrocarbons to petrochemicals, electricity and renewable energy.

The sides agreed to hold the first meeting of the energy working group before the Joint Commission meeting.
