Azerbaijan, China look to boost ties across key economic corridors PHOTO

Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with Liu Haixing, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, to discuss the development of bilateral relations and prospects for expanded cooperation.

According to the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers, the sides expressed satisfaction with the progress of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Baku and Beijing. They highlighted the role of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Chinese President Xi Jinping in elevating bilateral ties to their current level, Caliber.Az reports. 

The officials noted positive momentum in trade, economic relations and investment, as well as progress on joint projects in the green energy sector. They also identified further potential for cooperation in renewable energy and other areas.

The sides discussed opportunities to expand cooperation under China’s Belt and Road Initiative, as well as along the Middle Corridor, a major trade and transport route linking China with Europe through Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

They also highlighted the potential significance of the Zangezur Corridor for strengthening regional transport connectivity and increasing transit capacity.

The meeting included discussions on prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and China across a range of sectors.
