China’s Lianyungang Port sees major growth potential for Baku Port

The Baku International Sea Trade Port, the only transport hub and maritime gateway on the western coast of the Caspian Sea providing access to Europe, has significant potential for further development, said Jiang Wei, vice president for external relations at China’s Lianyungang Port.

Jiang Wei made the remarks to journalists on the sidelines of the international conference “The Role of Ports in Regional Connectivity and Strategic Cooperation” in Baku, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

He highlighted the importance of cooperation between Lianyungang Port, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC and the Port of Baku, noting that discussions on expanding their cooperation are already underway.

“We attach particular importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan Railways CJSC and the Port of Baku. This morning, I met with Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Rovshan Rustamov, and we discussed current cooperation issues in detail. First and foremost, we intend to continue expanding our transport hub network westward with the aim of establishing effective integration with the infrastructure of Azerbaijan Railways and the Port of Baku,” Jiang Wei said.

He stressed that closer integration of transport infrastructure would contribute to strengthening connectivity between China and Europe through Azerbaijan and further enhancing the role of the Caspian Sea in regional and international logistics.
