Azerbaijan prevents smuggling of 50 kg of drugs from Iran PHOTO/VIDEO

The employees of the Main Anti-Drug Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs carried out operational activities to combat illicit drug trafficking.

The Interior Ministry's press service told Caliber.Az that police officers detained Namig Mammadov, a resident of the Absheron district, for organizing drug trafficking.

During the pat search and search of his car, they found and seized 50 kg of drugs, including 28 kg of heroin and 22 kg of methamphetamine.

Mammadov confessed that he delivered the drugs to different addresses in Baku in order to earn money through an acquaintance, an Iranian citizen named Hadi, whose identity is being established.

A criminal case was initiated under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen against N. Mammadov, and operational activities are continuing.
