PM: Georgia supports Azerbaijan-Armenia peace talks

01 June 2023 16:31

Georgia supports peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which is in the interests of both countries and the region as a whole.

Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili made the statement while speaking to journalists before the 2nd European Political Community Summit in Moldova, Caliber.Az reports quoting Georgian media.

Garibashvili said that after the 44-day war Tbilisi has carried out a very important and, in fact, the first successful mediation between Baku and Yerevan. He also stressed that Georgia has very good relations with both countries.

"Georgia has a neutral and unbiased position in the context of strengthening stability and peace in our region," the prime minister stated.

Tbilisi has repeatedly offered a platform for the settlement of relations between Baku and Yerevan even during the 44-day war.

Moreover, Garibashvili himself has repeatedly put forward the idea of creating a platform - a peaceful neighborhood initiative, within which cultural, economic, and other issues between the three countries could be solved.

It should be noted that the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Jeyhun Bayramov and Ararat Mirzoyan, held a bilateral meeting in Tbilisi in July 2022.
