Azerbaijani gas supplies via TAP to Europe exceed 30 billion cubic metres
Supplies of Azerbaijani natural gas to Europe via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) have exceeded 30 billion cubic metres (bcm).
“More than 30 bcm of natural gas have been transported to Greece, Bulgaria and Italy,” Report informs citing the TAP consortium.
The construction of the TAP was completed in October 2020. The total length of the TAP is 878 kilometres, 550 kilometres of which pass through the northern part of Greece, 215 kilometres through Albania, 105 kilometres along the bottom of the Adriatic Sea and eight kilometres through Italy. Supplies of Azerbaijani gas to Italy, Greece and Bulgaria through TAP were launched on December 31, 2020.
Currently, the pipeline's throughput capacity is 12 bcm of gas per year. Gas transportation to Europe will be increased to 20 bcm during the next four years in accordance with the agreement signed between Azerbaijan and the EU.
