Bangladesh proposes direct flights between Dhaka and Baku during bilateral talks
Bangladesh has put forward a proposal to launch direct air connections between its capital, Dhaka, and Azerbaijan's capital, Baku, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and facilitate travel.
The initiative was presented by Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Jashim Uddin during his meeting with Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The discussion took place in Dhaka within the framework of the second round of bilateral consultations between the two countries.
A major issue addressed during the talks was the visa difficulties faced by Bangladeshi citizens when travelling to Azerbaijan. Minister Uddin called for a sustainable and practical solution to ease the process and ensure smoother mobility between the two countries.
Both sides agreed to move forward with the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) across several strategic areas. These include trade, investment, energy cooperation, aviation, capacity building, and mutual visa exemptions for diplomatic and government passport holders.
Furthermore, an agreement was reached to establish a Joint Working Group on Trade. The purpose of the group will be to facilitate regular dialogue, coordinate trade initiatives, and expand bilateral economic cooperation.
