Global crypto giant plans to open hub in Azerbaijan
Global cryptocurrency exchange Binance plans to open its centre in Azerbaijan, as announced by Kirill Khomyakov, Binance's Regional Head for Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and Africa.
“We are planning to open an interactive centre in Baku — the Binance Hub. The project will be implemented in cooperation with one of Azerbaijan’s most active government bodies. It will be a kind of interactive ‘crypto hub’ where people can ask questions, participate in seminars, educational programs, exchange experiences, and take part in hackathons (developer forums),” Khomyakov told journalists on April 29 during the Binance community event — Baku Meetup, per Caliber.Az.
Khomyakov explained that the office will serve as a centre for cryptocurrency activity, where the company aims to provide expertise and financial support. According to him, the project is currently in its early stages, but all parties involved agree on its necessity.
He also emphasised that Binance is awaiting the introduction of a regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency market in the country and noted the interest and willingness of various Azerbaijani organisations to cooperate.
“We strive to provide the highest quality service: localising the app interface, support service, launching thematic programs and marketing campaigns specifically adapted for Azerbaijan. Our main focus is on educational initiatives,” Khomyakov added.
It was previously reported that in January 2025, Azerbaijan launched its first national cryptocurrency — PortCoin. It complies with the BEP-20 standard and operates on the Binance Smart Chain platform.
Binance is the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume and has been expanding its presence in various countries, especially in emerging markets. The company has increasingly focused on creating local hubs and educational initiatives to foster crypto adoption while navigating global regulatory environments.
