Expert: Armenia is no longer a subject, but an object

Political technologist Karen Kocharyan told Armenian media that managing the processes and resisting them doesn't even depend on Armenia, it depends on geopolitical forces, not only on Russia or the United States.

"Unfortunately, Armenia is no longer a subject. It has become an object. Armenia is on the menu, you just have to understand whether Armenia is the first course, the second course or the dessert," he said, per Caliber.Az.

"Of course, Iran and Türkiye are also very serious players in the region. The final outcome, I think, will not depend on what happens in the South Caucasus or even in the Middle East, but on the global processes that started about 10 or more years ago, are ongoing and are coming to their logical end. We are talking about Russia-Ukraine relations and Russia-West relations, which I believe are already being negotiated behind the scenes, despite statements about sanctions. It is clear that at the end of this process, there will be the so-called Potsdam of the 21st century, and I cannot say where Armenia will be on this map," the expert noted.

The South Caucasus has been in the zone of Russian interests for many centuries. And I don't think that Russia will give up its interests so easily. As for what frightens the Armenian people, it turns out that Armenia, which has a fairly serious pro-Russian society, has lost its pro-Russian status over the last three years. The surveys show this. Our society is now suffering from a disease called public autism. In this condition, it easily changes its opinion from pro-Russian to pro-Western, pro-French, pro-Western to pro-Iranian, pro-Indian. This society is so easily manipulated that it could easily become pro-Russian. The other question is whether it is good. No, of course, it is not good that we are becoming a republic within a state. It is bad because we are losing our sovereignty," Kocharyan concluded.
