Kazakhstan bans extremists from entering its territory

MPs of the lower house of Kazakhstan's parliament at a plenary session agreed with the upper house's amendments to the law concerning changes in the sphere of population migration.

They envisage a ban on entry for foreigners involved in extremist and terrorist activities, TASS reports

The proposed amendments to the legislation also restrict entry into the country and acquisition of citizenship by foreigners convicted of offences against the sexual inviolability of minors.

To prevent the acquisition of dual citizenship, a new ground for the loss of citizenship of the Republic is introduced - in the case of the use of a foreign passport after admission to Kazakhstani citizenship. The current legislation provides for the registration of loss of Kazakh citizenship only for the acquisition of citizenship of a foreign state.

After the Parliament adopts the law on amendments to the legislation in the sphere of population migration, it will go to the President of Kazakhstan for signature.
