Turkish army kills nine terrorists in Syria

The Turkish Armed Forces have neutralised nine YPG militants (the Syrian wing of PKK terrorists - ed.) August 10, the Turkish National Defence Ministry has reported.

The militants attempted to illegally cross the Syrian-Turkish border near the province of Mardin in order to carry out sabotage, Anadolu reports, quoting the ministry.

The Turkish military will continue to give a decisive rebuff to the terrorists, the ministry stressed.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that since 1984, when the PKK militants first carried out a bloody crime in Türkiye, and until March 2020, 7,500 Turkish security forces and 6,800 civilians were killed by this bloody organisation.

The United States and the European Union have added PKK to the lists of terrorist organisations.

Despite Ankara's attempts to find ways to resolve the situation, the PKK terrorist organisation has resumed armed attacks since July 2015.

In recent years, the PKK has sought to shift responsibility for the bloody crimes in the region to its offshoots.

In Syria, PKK terrorists hide behind the names PYD and YPG, and in the last two years they have called themselves the "Syrian Democratic Forces".

In Iran, PKK operates as the "Kurdistan Free Life Party" (PJAK).
