American columnist labels Armenian PM as tool of US in fighting Russia
American columnist Andrew Korybko has labelled Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan as a tool of the United States in its fight against Russia.
"The US has been attempting to pull Armenia out of Russia's sphere of influence since Pashinyan's rise to power in the 2018 Velvet Revolution," Korybko stated, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
He explained that following Armenia's defeats in Karabakh in 2020 and 2023, the US intensified its efforts in Armenia, trying to persuade the national elite that the West could replace Russia as a security provider.
Korybko suggested that the US aims to sway public opinion and push Russia to exclude Armenia from the CSTO.
"In any case, this is exactly what the US wants to achieve to create the illusion that Russia is losing allies. However, it is unlikely that Russia will fall for this, as it has shown remarkable patience so far," Korybko concluded.
