Ankara vows continued support for reconciliation across Syrian society
Türkiye will continue to support efforts aimed at reconciliation and peaceful coexistence among all segments of Syrian society, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on May 1.
Commenting on recent developments in southern Syria, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Öncü Keçeli told Turkish media that Ankara remains committed to promoting unity and stability in the war-torn country, Caliber.Az reports.
Keçeli stressed that the key to long-term stability in Syria lies in the cessation of Israeli airstrikes, which he said undermine efforts to preserve the country’s territorial integrity and political unity.
He expressed Ankara’s confidence that violence in the south of Syria can be brought to an end through common sense and dialogue between the Syrian government and local groups operating in the region.
Keçeli also voiced hope that those responsible for recent incidents would be held accountable.
"In this sensitive period for Syria, the international community – particularly regional countries – must play a constructive role in fostering security and stability, and in supporting initiatives aimed at national reconciliation," the spokesperson added.
