Anti-crime measures: Now Trump plans to send troops to Baltimore
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced his intention to deploy the National Guard to the state of Baltimore to combat crime.
The head of the White House described Baltimore as a “hellhole,” Caliber.Az reports via American media.
Baltimore is a hellhole right now," Mr. Trump said. "We have a right to do it because I have an obligation to do it to protect this country, and that includes Baltimore."
Since taking office for his second term in January 2025, President Trump has intensively pursued a law-and-order agenda, frequently deploying the National Guard to Democratic-led cities to combat what he claims is out-of-control crime and unrest. His administration’s actions have drawn widespread criticism for overstepping federal authority and targeting cities with large minority populations or vocal Democratic leadership.
Trump initiated his domestic security crackdown by deploying approximately 2,200 National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., starting August 11, under the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, which grants the president unique authority over the capital.
