Arab League: Israel pursuing “scorched earth policy” in Gaza
Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS) Ahmed Aboul Gheit has said that Israel is pursuing a “scorched earth policy” in the Gaza Strip, destroying infrastructure and using water as a weapon.
Ahmed Aboul Gheit made these remarks at a conference on the problem of water resources, which is being held in Cairo, TASS reports.
“Israel is pursuing a scorched earth policy, targeting infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, water and sewerage facilities, to force Palestinian citizens to relocate to neighbouring countries,” he said, stressing that the destruction of infrastructure, in accordance with international norms, is a war crime,” he noted.
The secretary general added that Israel has repeatedly used water as a weapon” in the Gaza Strip.
