Armenia alone can decide its EAEU status, Pashinyan says
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said only Armenia, as a member state of the Eurasian Economic Union, can discuss questions related to the country’s status in the bloc, Russian media reports.
“As stipulated by the EAEU’s rules, only Armenia — that is, a member state of the union — can discuss the issue of status; there is no other procedure. Any questions that may arise among our colleagues, and we will respond patiently,” Pashinyan said at a press conference.
Asked about a possible increase in the price of Russian gas, the acting prime minister, who is currently on leave due to election campaigning, said such a scenario was impossible under the existing agreement.
“That cannot happen because we have a valid contract, and it is mutually beneficial. We have clear strategic agreements related to gas prices, and we must adhere to them,” he said.
