Armenia confirms recent acquisition of Russian Tor air defence systems
The Russian-made “Tor-M2KM” air defence missile systems showcased during Armenia’s military parade on 28 May were acquired relatively recently, according to a senior military official.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Edward Asryan told journalists in parliament that several pieces of equipment displayed during the parade had been newly delivered to Armenia, including Russian systems, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
“You saw the Russian ‘Tor’ systems during the parade, which we have received recently,” said Asryan.
He declined to disclose the full list of seven countries whose military equipment was featured in the parade, but confirmed that the exhibition included weapons and systems produced in Russia.
Military equipment and weapons manufactured in Armenia, Russia, France, India, China, Iran and Belgium were displayed at the military parade in Yerevan on May 28.
