Armenia detains opposition supporters amid Pashinyan’s diplomatic trip to Türkiye
Large-scale detentions of supporters of the "Holy Struggle" movement, previously known as "Tavush for the Motherland" and led by revanchist Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, are currently underway in Armenia.
These arrests coincide with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s official visit to Türkiye, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
The group "Five Human Rights Defenders" has confirmed the information regarding the detentions.
Prime Minister Pashinyan arrived in Türkiye on June 20 for an official working visit, marking a significant development in bilateral relations between the neighbouring countries.
Upon arrival at Istanbul International Airport, Pashinyan was greeted by Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Berris Ekinci.
The visit is expected to feature high-level talks, including a planned meeting between Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan later this evening, according to Pashinyan’s press secretary, Nazeli Baghdasaryan.
