Armenia extends winter military conscription period until mid-February 2026

Armenia has extended the timeframe of its winter military conscription campaign, moving the end date from January 31 to February 13, 2026.

The decision was approved during a government meeting held on January 29, Caliber.Az reported, citing Armenian media.

According to the official explanation, the extension was necessary to complete the medical examinations of citizens eligible for conscription and to finalise their draft status based on the results of those checks.

Armenia’s Ministry of Defence said the measure will help prevent unjustified deferments or the shifting of conscripts’ medical assessments to the summer 2026 draft period.

The ministry also recalled that the winter draft for compulsory military service and alternative service was originally announced to run from November 24, 2025, through January 31, 2026. The process of filling the armed forces with those called up for both compulsory and alternative service was scheduled to take place between January 7 and January 31, 2026.
