Armenia, NATO review progress on "Women, Peace and Security" initiative
On December 1, Armenia's Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan received a delegation led by Irene Fellin, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry, announcing the meeting, said the sides discussed the current agenda and prospects for developing Armenia–NATO relations, Caliber.Az cites Armenian media outlets.
They also exchanged views on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, as well as Armenia’s third National Action Plan.
Both parties expressed their readiness to continue joint efforts to deepen Armenia–NATO cooperation.
The Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda is a global initiative that recognizes women's crucial role in achieving and maintaining peace and security. Launched by the UN Security Council's adoption of resolution 1325 in 2000, it calls for women's greater participation in conflict prevention and resolution, their protection from harm in conflict, and the integration of a gender perspective into all peace and security efforts.
