Armenia reportedly deploys "militants" on conditional border with Azerbaijan
The situation in Armenia today is much more complicated than it was in the 1990s, according to Sasun Mikayelyan, chairman of the "Yerkrapah" terrorist organisation.
Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media that according to Mikayelyan, members of "Yerkrapah" are now permanently stationed on the defence line along the entire length of the conditional Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
"In 2020, some 1200 volunteers of 'Yerkrapah' were on combat duty, in 2022 there were 1700 of us, last year there were more than 8 thousand volunteers of 'Yerkrapah' on combat duty at the same time. In some places 'Yerkrapah' works in two shifts, considering this, there are already more than 10 thousand members. This is a serious number, the military will understand me," Mikayelyan told OTA.
Mikayelyan rushed to assure that the "Yerkrapah" continue to serve their purpose and actively participate in defending the border.
"Now our country is facing the rift, people are divided into 4-5 parts, everyone considers each other a traitor, how to protect the border under these conditions? I don't want to frighten anyone, but we are on the brink now..." he said.
Calling for unity, Mikayelyan noted that "the number of volunteers should be increased, it is necessary to control the border by giving time and opportunity to the creation of a professional army".
