Armenia says Russian gas supplies continue without disruption

30 May 2026 14:15

Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, David Khudatyan, said that Russian gas supplies to the country are continuing without disruption, despite reports of potential tensions over future agreements.

Speaking to Interfax, Khudatyan stated that deliveries remain stable and that cooperation with Russian partners is ongoing.

“Supplies from Russia continue as usual. We do not see any problematic issues in this regard. We are in constant contact with our colleagues from Russia, colleagues from Gazprom, we are working normally. The working process is progressing normally,” he said.

At the same time, the minister confirmed that Armenia had received a letter from Russia outlining the possibility of suspending or terminating a 2013 agreement covering supplies of natural gas, petroleum products, and rough diamonds. According to the letter, such measures could be considered if Armenia continues pursuing closer integration with the European Union.

Khudatyan said the Armenian government had taken note of the communication and remains engaged with its counterparts.

“We received information from our partners, took note of it, and, as necessary, we are working with them, we are in normal working relations,” he noted.

However, he cautioned that media reports may have overstated the tone and implications of the message.

“The content of the letter is not quite as it is presented in the press,” he said, declining to provide further details.

He added that coverage of the issue had been “presented much more sharply” in the media, suggesting that opposition groups may be amplifying the issue for political purposes.

“I believe this is also being done by opposition forces who think that in this way they can ensure success in elections,” Khudatyan said.
