Armenia seeks clarification from Georgia over detained trucks at customs
The Armenian side is awaiting clarification from Georgia regarding the detention of Armenian cargo trucks at the Kobi customs terminal, said Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan.
According to Papoyan, the reasons for the detention remain unclear, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The Georgian side has indicated that the financial police identified “certain risks,” but details of those risks or any potential violations have not yet been disclosed.
The incident involves dozens to over 100 Armenian trucks, primarily carrying construction materials such as wood, liquefied gas, coal, and other goods from Russia, that have been held up since February 12, 2026. The vehicles are stranded on the Georgian side near the Kobi area, part of the route connected to the Gudauri-Kobi section leading toward the Russian-Georgian border at Upper Lars, though in this case, the trucks appear destined for Armenia via Georgian territory.
