Armenia ships first export of fresh fruit to UAE amid Russian import restrictions VIDEO
Armenia has dispatched its first shipment of fresh fruit to the United Arab Emirates, marking a new export destination as restrictions on Armenian agricultural products remain in place in Russia.
According to Araratyan Farm, the first consignment of Armenian fruit has been sent to the UAE. The company did not disclose details about the volume of the shipment or the fruit varieties included, Caliber.Az reports.
The export comes after Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) began gradually imposing restrictions on imports of Armenian products on May 21.
The measures initially covered Armenian cognac, flowers, fruit, vegetables and fish. The restrictions were later expanded to include all Armenian products subject to quarantine controls, with the exception of canned goods. The ban also applies to the transit of those products through Russia to other member states of the Eurasian Economic Union.
