Armenian blogger jailed for calling PM Pashinyan “traitor”

A court in Armenia has ordered the one-month arrest of opposition blogger Artak Avetisyan after he called Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan a traitor, according to his lawyer.

Ruben Melikyan said in a Facebook post, cited by Armenian media and reported by Caliber.Az, that the decision was issued following Avetisyan’s detention earlier this week.

Avetisyan was taken into custody on May 12 after making the remark during Pashinyan’s election campaign event in the Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan, where the blogger resides.
